Naturopathic Fertility Optimization

Failing to achieve or maintain a healthy pregnancy can be one of life’s biggest stressors.

  • Have you experienced repeated pregnancy losses or been diagnosed with unexplained infertility and told there are no options left except egg donation or adoption?

  • Do you already have a child or children but are struggling to get pregnant again? They call it secondary infertility, but there must be an explanation for why.

  • Are you feeling like nobody is looking at the big infertility picture, which has left you with unanswered questions as you attempt to figure it out on your own?

  • Are you in the early stages of planning your family and wanting to be proactive with your health to support a healthy conception and pregnancy.

Naturopathic fertility optimization is a unique, holistic approach you’ll find nowhere else.

Unlike the conventional approach to fertility medicine, naturopathic care looks at the bigger picture of your health and how the pieces fit together to affect fertility.

We use advanced functional medicine lab testing to uncover the root cause. These specialized tests include bloodwork, saliva hormone testing, urine hormone testing, stool analysis, food sensitivity testing, and more.

The naturopathic approach is highly personalized, gentle, and supportive—working with your body to prepare it for a healthy conception and pregnancy.

With a deep understanding that each patient's journey to parenthood is unique, she provides personalized preconception preparation and planning for those just starting out, including tailored treatment plans, fertility awareness, fertility nutrition, and post-birth control syndrome reversal.

For patients struggling with infertility, Dr. Parrish focuses on identifying the root cause of their concerns, including IUI and IVF failure, recurrent pregnancy loss and miscarriage, male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, and secondary infertility. She also optimizes egg and sperm quality, treats ovulatory disorders and hormonal imbalances, such as premature ovarian failure, PCOS, PMS, luteal phase defects, secondary amenorrhea, and hypothalamic amenorrhea. Dr. Parrish believes that early intervention is key and encourages patients not to wait until after experiencing multiple miscarriages or one year of trying.

Dr. Rosia graduated from the esteemed Bastyr University and has completed advanced practitioner training through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM). With over a decade of clinical and research experience, she is particularly skilled in identifying the root cause of fertility concerns and providing gentle, efficient, and stress-free solutions.

What to Expect

01: Initial Fertility Consultation (virtual)

You will be asked to complete an extensive intake form and submit all labs and imaging related to fertility that have been completed within the last 12 months before your first visit. This allows Dr. Parrish to review the materials and make the most of your time together. Please allow up to 90 minutes for your initial consultation.

02: Functional Medicine Testing

Depending on your previous lab work and health history, Dr. Parrish will likely order additional testing to uncover the root cause of fertility concerns. These tests can include bloodwork, salivary testing, or stool testing to assess thyroid function, gut health, micronutrient status, food allergies, environmental toxins, and more. Semen analysis is also available for men! See all lab test options >

03: Fertility Optimization Plan

Once your lab results are received, you’ll have a consultation to review the results and receive a comprehensive plan for fertility optimization. Naturopathic recommendations might include nutrition, supplementation, homeopathy, or other natural therapies to support and optimize your body’s health in preparation for pregnancy.

04: Optimization & Coordination

Follow-up consultations are an important time to modify your plan and increase your chances of fertility success. Dr. Parrish will also make referrals and work in collaboration with your other healthcare providers (including your ob-gyn, fertility specialists, endocrinologists, nutritionists, therapists, acupuncturists, or pelvic PT specialists) to coordinate complete care.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely! Dr. Parrish regularly collaborates with patients who are seeking assistance from fertility clinics and naturopathic medicine is very complementary to that approach. This may require more care coordination and communication with your providers and this requires a signed release of records to discuss your case with your care team, and it may also incur additional fees for time spent in medical care coordination.

  • Dr. Parrish is dedicated to helping both men and women optimize their fertility. Infertility is often associated with women's health, but male factor infertility plays an equally important role. Dr. Parrish offers male health optimization clinical consultations that begin with semen analysis and may expand beyond that depending on the results. Dr. Parrish uses unique semen analysis parameters to truly understand the contributors to infertility, such as hormone imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, food allergies and sensitivities, infections, the use and overuse of testosterone therapies, age, varicoceles, ejaculation disorders, and more. Antibodies, genetic disorders, medications, prior injuries, and surgeries can also impact sperm health. Dr. Parrish also works with sperm donors to optimize their health and offers consultations on the health of sperm if the donor is anonymous. Additionally, Dr. Parrish may inquire about problems with sexual intercourse and any relationship factors that may be impacting fertility.

  • Nope! All Colorado and Washington residents can experience naturopathic medical care through our virtual appointment settings. If you live outside of Colorado and Washington, Dr. Parrish will serve as an educational health consultant and will be unable to provide diagnosis codes for insurance, but can provide the same in-depth approach that she provides to patients in the states in which she is registered and licensed. Dr. Parrish sees both patients in Colorado and Washington, but she also has clients globally through the health educational consultations.

  • Certainly! Dr. Parrish's ultimate goal is for you to have a successful and healthy pregnancy and baby. To achieve this, she recommends that you seek the care of an OB-GYN or midwife early on in your pregnancy to receive the necessary medical attention. Dr. Parrish will continue to address any symptoms that arise during your pregnancy, but if the root cause of your health concerns has not been fully addressed, it may require ongoing treatment. It's important to note that while many fertility treatments and resources are safe during pregnancy, it's crucial to consult with Dr. Parrish as soon as you discover your pregnancy to determine which treatments are safe for you and your baby. Dr. Parrish uses a subset of European-based botanical medicine and homeopathics that are known to be safe and supportive for fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum, although research in pregnancy and breastfeeding populations may be limited. Additionally, Dr. Parrish will ensure that you are receiving professional-grade pregnancy-specific vitamins and supplements to support your pregnancy.
